The first and perhaps major difference noticed by most all of the residents after their apartments have been weatherized is a reduction in their utility bills.

SJHP’s 15th Anniversary

Since its incorporation in 1996, the St. Johns Housing Partnership has grown in vision with achievements to match. From SJHP’s initial–and ongoing–Emergency Repair Program, which rehabilitates the homes of low-to-moderate income elderly and disabled homeowners, SJHP completed a multi-county Weatherization Program in 2012 for multifamily rental properties in NE Florida, which enables energy efficiency and reduced utility bills for working families and seniors on fixed incomes.

James lives near the end of a quiet lane in Armstrong and uses a motorized wheelchair to get around. One day, as he was coming out of his rented home, he came down the ramp and his chair toppled over, leaving James lying in the dirt yard for hours, until someone finally heard his cries. His ramp was a piece of plywood set atop two cinder blocks.
