Recipient of 2012 Intergenerational Legacy Award

The St. Johns Housing Partnership and the St. Johns County School District were recently selected by the State of Florida’s Department of Elder Affairs as 2012 Intergenerational Legacy Award recipients.

The award given in recognition of Florida’s Intergenerational Week honors volunteers and volunteer programs from across the state that have made a lasting impression on the lives of both young people and elders.

SJHP and SJCSD were chosen because their collaborative effort, “helps improve the quality of life for Floridians.

In a letter announcing the award DOEA Secretary, Charles Corley wrote, “Your leadership helps to “bridge the gap” between generations by providing encouragement to the young and meaning to the lives of our senior citizens.”
