St. Johns Housing Partnership Celebrates Homeownership Month

ST. AUGUSTINE – The June celebration of home ownership reinforces the St. Johns Housing Partnership’s (SJHP) commitment to supporting affordable homeownership and lowering housing costs for families in Northeast Florida.

First time homebuyers have a tremendous resource in the non-profit SJHP and executive director Bill Lazar. They receive first time homebuyer assistance from Virgina Campbell, St. Johns County HUD certified housing counselor.

For over 25 years SJHP has been proud to double down on its ongoing leadership and commitment to helping families and individuals achieve the dream of homeownership and supporting the stability and economic well-being of individuals and families across North Florida.

“Homeownership promotes stability and healthy outcomes, builds intergenerational wealth, and ultimately is fundamental to America’s promise of opportunity,” said Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner Julia Gordon. “During National Homeownership Month, we plan to showcase our work to break down barriers to homeownership.”

As part of National Homeownership Month, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced USDA is celebrating 75 years of helping millions of people buy, repair and build affordable homes.

“For decades, USDA has served as a safety net for hardworking Americans who dream of owning a home but face challenges to doing so,” Secretary Vilsack said. “Now more than ever, people across the nation need access to safe, decent and affordable housing. USDA is redoubling its efforts to equip potential homebuyers with resources and information they need to be ready to take full advantage of our critical programs as funding is available.”

SJHP is redefining affordable, low-income housing. They acquire and renovate existing housing, as well as build new affordable rental and for sale properties and repair homes.
